Sundowns claim bragging rights in Tshwane derby

Hollywoodbets Super League matchday six concluded with yet another Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies win against Tshwane rivals, AmaTuks Ladies at the Groenkloof Stadium in Pretoria on Saturday, 18 March.

Overall, match-day six offered 24 goals in all eight games played this past weekend.

One of the contributing games to the low scoring deficit in the Super League this weekend was the Tshwane derby, between Sundowns and AmaTuks.

The game ended [1-0]. The only goal of the game came from the penalty spot, which was well taken by Sundowns maestro and Lesotho international Boitumelo Rabale.

HOW SUNDOWNS LADIES BEAT AMATUKS

For the first 10-15 minutes of the game, Sundowns looked more dominant on the ball. AmaTuks were pinned in their own half and looked like they were going to concede anytime.

But the AmaTuks defence looked solid and denied Sundowns of any chance they had in that period.

However, with every minute passing by, AmaTuks grew in confidence and started creating their own chance on the break.

Both teams were not clinical in front of goal, and it looked like the game was going to end in a stalemate.

But that was before the 73th minute, after Kgadiete got fouled in the box, resulting in a penalty for Sundowns. Rabale, took the shot in the 74th, which gave Sundowns the lead.

After the game, AmaTuks head coach, Maude Khumalo, told FARPost that she was happy with the performance of her charges but thought the penalty was soft.

AMATUKS HEAD COACH ON THE PENALTY DECISION

“There was nothing I was missing in this game. I think it was more of us not converting the chances,” said Khumalo.

“And too be honest with you, that penalty just for me was a soft one Because of, they [Sundowns] felt the pressure.

“And what they normally did, they pushed us in our box so that we can make mistakes so that the referee can give them a set-piece.

“That’s how I see the game; for me that’s not a true reflection of the game,” concluded Khumalo.
