Orlando Pirates have provided an injury update on captain Innocent Maela, midfielder Thabang Monare and goalkeeper Richard Ofori ahead of their clash with SuperSport United.

Third-placed Buccaneers will meet second-placed SSU in what promises to be an exciting tie at Orlando Stadium at 17:45 on Saturday.

Gavin Hunt’s men hold a five-point advantage over Jose Riveiro’s side, who need the victory to have a chance of catching Matsatsantsa in the race for second place.

The reverse fixture ended goalless in August, but the Sea Robbers have won the last four home matches against SSU, scoring 10 goals, while conceding five.

Riveiro will be boosted by the latest injury news from the treatment room, which could give him more options to choose from on Saturday.

“The Buccaneers will be boosted by the possible return of captain Innocent Maela, who has served a two-match suspension and is back at full training after sustaining a foot injury,” the club stated.

“Along with the likes of midfielder Thabang Monare and goalkeeper Richard Ofori, the skipper is one of a few players to have made significant strides on the injury front after a spell on the sidelines.”

Pirates have won seven out of their last nine games in all competition, although last week’s 2-1 over Venda Football Academy came in extra-time, while Hunt’s men have collected just three victories over their own last nine matches.
