Mamelodi Sundowns’ U15 side were drawn alongside European giants FC Barcelona and Manchester City in the group stages of the Kevin De Bruyne Cup.

Earlier in the year, Roc Nation Sports International had announced that Mamelodi Sundowns’ U15 side will participate in this year’s Kevin De Bruyne Cup, alongside the likes of Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, FC Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich.

De Bruyne, who plays for Manchester City and Belgium, has proudly associated his name with the KDB Cup ever since the inaugural edition took place in 2016.

It is now widely-regarded as the most prestigious youth tournament in Europe, with the sixth edition of the immensely popular two-day event set to take place on 10/11 June 2023 in Belgium.

This year will be the first time the tournament has gone global, with representation from across three continents, including South America, Europe and Africa, with Mamelodi Sundowns’ youth team taking part in the KDB Cup for the first time this year in a historic move facilitated by Roc Nation Sports International, the world-renowned sports agency that represents De Bruyne.

The City star himself conducted the draw of the four groups, which was shared via a video message.

Sundowns were drawn in Group A alongside last year’s winners FC Barcelona as well as Man City from England, while Group B consists of Bayern Munich, Palmeiras and Odense. Group C contains Paris Saint-Germain, RB Leipzig and Club Brugge, while Group D has Real Madrid, Ajax Amsterdam and Gent.
