1561 | Gonçalo da Silveira, the first missionary in Southern Africa, was killed in his hut, by order of the chief. Jesuit priest Gonçalo da Silveira was raised and schooled in Portugal.

2022 | Off the shore of Fukushima, Japan, a 7.4-magnitude earthquake strikes, leaving 225 people injured and 4 dead.

2021 | Series of shootings occurred at spas located in and around Atlanta, Georgia in the United States, resulting in the death of eight people and one person being injured. A suspect was apprehended on the same day.

2001 | Number of explosive devices detonated in the city of Shijiazhuang, China, resulting in the deaths of 108 people and causing injuries to 38 others. This incident was one of the biggest cases of mass murder to occur in China in decades.

2005 | Israel officially hands over Jericho to Palestinian control.
