Mdantsane Becomes 9th City Player To Reach 100-Games Milestone

Cape Town City midfielder Mduduzi Mdantsane became the ninth player to reach 100 games at the club.

Mdantsane joined City in January 2020 as a free agent after leaving Baroka FC. Since then he never looked back as he became City’s all-time leading the scoring with 18 goals.

On the last day of the window transfer of January 2023, the 28-year-old was close to joining Kaizer Chiefs but the deal collapsed at the last minute and it remains unclear yet why the deal never went through.

‘Mdu’ has found it difficult to make it into Eric Tinkler’s starting line-ups this season and he has been coming from the bench most of the time.

He reached his milestone in their 1-0 away win at Sekhukhune United, when he came off the bench.

Because the last two matches were away games for City, the last being a 2-1 win at Maritzburg United, Mdantsane’s milestones will be celebrated on Tuesday night when they will face relegation-threatened Marumo Gallants at DHL Stadium.

City will hope to collect three points to keep their top-four finish hopes alive.
