Zwane Responds To Khanye Criticism

Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane has responded to criticism of former Amakhosi winger Junior Khanye, who stated he doesn’t think Zwane’s side can win the Nedbank Cup.

The player-turned-iDiski TV pundit has questioned whether Zwane is the right man for the Chiefs dugout since his appointment, arguing that he doesn’t have enough experience for a job of this caliber.

In a recent iDiski TV analysis of Chiefs’ scrappy 2-1 win over Casric FC on Sunday, which also received a lot of criticism from the club’s own fans, Khanye insisted that he doesn’t believe Zwane can win the Nedbank Cup despite Chiefs reaching the quarter-finals for the first time since 2018/19.

“Critics are part of the game. It’s his opinion, I respect his opinion as a former player,” Zwane said when asked about Khanye’s remarks at the Nedbank Cup quarter-finals draw.

“By the way, who am I to go down to the level of Junior Khanye? You understand what I’m saying.

“This is football, I respect everyone and I respect his opinion and I love it for a fact that he’s saying what he thinks but people are not the same.”

Chiefs were drawn against Royal AM in the last-8 and could reach the semi-finals for the first time in four years.

Back in 2018/19 they beat Cape Town City in the quarter-final to set up a semi-final with Chippa United, which they won 4-2 before TS Galaxy ended their title hopes with a 2-0 win in the final.

This campaign, the Ke Yona Cup is the only trophy left to compete for Zwane and his men, if they want to avoid extending their nearly eight-year trophy drought.
