Cape Town City DStv Diski Challenge coach blasted the match officials after their 1-1 draw with Orlando Pirates in the DDC, and also criticised their opponents.

The early Sunday morning blockbuster between the two DDC title contenders was one of the best games of the season so far.

Pirates took control of the games in the early stages of the game but City had a good plan to catch them on the counter.

Once again Luphumlo “Kaka” Sifumba proved to be the main man as he took a lovely shot that was saved by the keeper, Jody Ah-Shene was on hand to score the rebound. And City went into the break leading by 1-0.

Pirates didn’t stop their way of playing, putting ‘knees on the ball’ with Sonwabile Khumalo leading the way.

With less than 25 minutes remaining, the Buccaneers were awarded a contentious penalty which left the City bench furious.

iDiski Times spoke with the City DDC head coach after the game and he was furious about the decisions the match official Luxolo Badi made.

“Take a point, shoo, we were robbed man. Robbed, no penalty never a penalty. And free kicks, it’s disgusting. It’s a joke. That’s why we won’t go forward.” Taylor told iDiski Times.

While admitting that Pirates were good, he also criticised their showboating.

“No look, I think they caused problems but we had many chances, just as much as they did,” the former Ajax Amsterdam and Cape Town coach continued.

“But to get a penalty to equalise I mean, to be honest, they looked dangerous but they never looked like scoring because they can’t shoot. Circus tricks. It’s a circus, this team.”

The outspoken coach added that his City team were plagued by injuries and had to use a lot of younger players, while also questioning the ages of some of Pirates’ players.

“We had seven players out today,” he concluded.

“Injuries, seven! We throwing in 15, 16 year olds, not their 25, 26. They age cheat man, it’s ridiculous.”
