Zwane – Four Chiefs Players Still Out

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has confirmed that four of his players are still sidelined with injury, while Christian Saile Basomboli is suspended for tonight’s Nedbank Cup match.

Chiefs will take on Motsepe Foundation Championship side Casric FC at FNB Stadium, hoping to reach the last-8 of the Ke Yona Cup for a first time since 2018/19.

However, they still have some players sidelined with injury, while there were also some good news, with Ashley du Preez being available for selection again.

“In terms of player availability, we are still missing the likes of Khama (Billiat) and Tower (Erick Mathoho). Some players have just returned to training from niggling injuries and other players are coming back from suspension,” he told the club’s media team.

“Christian (Saile) is suspended and we welcome back Ashley du Preez. Other than that, we have everyone available, except for those still making their way back to full fitness, such as Cole Alexander, while Reeve Frosler is also a long-term absentee.

“We will see how Dillan Solomons responds. He is back in the team and it’s now a case of testing his fitness as well. So, we have to try and balance the squad in defence and attack.”

Zwane himself was down sick earlier in the week but he confirmed he has recovered and will be on the sidelines for today’s game.

“I’m feeling much better, thank God, I am fully recovered and I am back at work,” he added.

“I’ve got strong back up in the guys that I am working with and they’ve done tremendously well in my absence.

“I would like to thank them for continuing the job with me not around, and for the support that they gave me when I was away.”

Chiefs take on Casric FC at 18:00 at the FNB Stadium tonight.
