Orlando Pirates superfan Dejan Mladenovic has sadly passed away after weeks of illness.

Mladenovic arrived in South Africa in the early 1990’s from Serbia. The football lover started to support the Buccaneers and witnessed them winning the CAF Champions League in 1995.

But he didn’t only support Pirates, he would also go to the stadium whenever Bafana Bafana or Banyana Banyana were playing to show his support.

As time went we’ve seen ‘Malaga’ moving around the country and support almost all the sporting codes of South Africa. He even a short stint analysing Soweto Derby matches at iDiskiTV.

Even when he started to feel ill he was, he was still watching cricket at Wanderers Stadium during SA20 recently.

His brother from another mother and iDiskiTV analyst, Machaka, confirmed Mladenovic’s passing to this publication, saying he was devastated when he got the call from a hospital this morning as spent most of their time together.

“The last time he was not well is when we attended the game at Wanderers cricket ground, that’s where he told me ‘my friend, I’m not well, I must go home’. I took him home. The next day he was very very Ill,” Machaka told iDiskiTimes.

“I received a call around 14h15 yesterday from Bara Hospital and they said your brother from another mother has passed away.”

We, at iDiski Times, would like to express our condolences to Mladenovic’s family, friends, the Pirates supporters and SA football fraternity as a whole.
