Mamelodi Sundowns have confirmed fans can gain free entry into Loftus Versveld when they face Al Ahly in a crunch CAF Champions League clash this weekend.
Sundowns lead Group B with seven points after three games, while the African giants have four, knowing defeat could be the beginning of the end of their 2022/23 campaign.
With all the pressure on Marcel Koller and his troops, and Al Ahly having never won a game on South African soil in their illustrious history, Masandawana is raising the stakes with a capacity crowd expected as supporters can access the arena for free, should they be in yellow.
The club took to social media on Monday afternoon to announce the decision in what will be a momentous fixture in the club’s history – and they come in as favorites, having done the double of the record 10-time African champions last season.
However, they went on to be knocked out by Petro de Luanda in the quarter-finals which was largely seen as a massive failure by the runaway DStv Premiership leaders.
Coach Rulani Mokwena did not hide the fact that the Champions League is their main target this season and a win in Tshwane on Saturday could go a long way in realising that dream as they look to dump Ahly out of the competition at the group stage round and secure a place in the next round alongside Sudanese giants Al Hilal.
So far, Al Ahly have faced South African teams 13 times in CAF competitions in Mzansi and have never picked up a win.
Sundowns take on Al Ahly at Loftus Versfeld Stadium at 15:00 on Saturday.
