Bartlett Not Happy With Officials
Cape Town Spurs head coach Shaun Bartlett was not happy with the match-officiating during their 3-2 win against TTM on Wednesday.
Spurs scored two early goals in the first half via Therlo Moosa and Ashley Cupido, from the penalty spot. But a few minutes later Tshakuma pulled one back and the entire game became more physical.
Just before the half-time whistle, TTM were awarded a penalty which left the Spurs bench furious and the visitors made it 2-2. Going into the tunnel the referee showed a yellow card to one of Spurs’ technical members.
In the second half, Bartlett made some few changes which had an impact on the game, bringing on loanees Boitumelo Radiopane, Chumani Butsaka and Asavela Velebhayi.
All three substitutes were running straight at the Limpopo side and just a few moments later Radiopane scored the winner with a brilliant header.
Despite the win, former Bafana Bafana striker Bartlett was not happy with how the match officials handled the game.
“There are two teams on the field, every time we make a foul we get a yellow card, they make a foul they don’t even speak with them,” Bartlett told iDiski Times.
“At half-time, even the fourth official came and gave a yellow card to one of my technical team members but it’s all part of the game. We just want fairness.
“I think that’s why they are there to protect the players on the field and in future I’m sure it will happen again.”
The win saw Spurs climb to 37 points, just one behind Casric Stars and three behind Motsepe Foundation Championship leaders Polokwane City, who collected a controversial win on Wednesday.
