Motsepe Foundation Championship side Venda Football Academy have suspended their head coach Simo Dladla, as reported by iDiski Times.

The decision comes after VFA lost 3-1 to fellow Limpopo side Baroka FC at the Global Stadium in Lebowakgomo on Saturday.

Unlike first thought, Joel Masutha and Macbeth Sibaya were not suspended, with Masutha taking over the head coach role in an interim basis.

“Venda football Academy (‘VFA’) has taken a resolution to suspend Head Coach Simo Dladla from his duties with immediate effect,” the club said via a statement.

“In the interim, Joel Masutha will lead the team as Head Coach and he will be assisted by Rowan Hendricks. Macbeth Sibaya will continue as second Assistant Coach.

“No further statement will be made on this matter.”

VFA currently sit in 18th place in the Motsepe Foundation Championship with 18 points from 18 matches. They have won just five, lost 10, and drew three to be sucked into the relegation dogfight.

Dladla, the former Richards Bay Head Coach, was at Swallows last season, where he served as assistant to Brandon Truter. He also had a brief spell as caretaker coach when Truter was put on special leave.

He went close to promotion with Bay two seasons ago, but was dismissed as they dropped out of the lead with a few games remaining in the 2020/2021 season. He also had a brief spell at Uthongathi earlier in the season.
