Chiefs Stunned By Arrows In Five-Goal Thriller

Kaizer Chiefs were stunned by a Knox Mutizwa-inspired Golden Arrows comeback as they lost 3-2 in their DStv Premiership clash at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday.

It was a blistering start to the game which Chiefs were rewarded for when Sifiso Hlanti’s eighth-minute goal separated the two sides early on.

The towering defender headed home Keagan Dolly’s corner at the near post beating Siyabonga Mbatha.

It was a physical encounter in the opening half but Chiefs who had the better chances of the two sides found themselves level going into halftime.

On-loan Orlando Pirates midfielder Ntsako Makhbela netted his first goal since May 2021 after being teed up by Knox Mutizwa to beat Brandon Petersen from close range.

But Chiefs showed character by coming back through teenager Mduduzi Shabalala and it looked as if they would take three points ahead of facing Orlando Pirates next week.

But Arrows, and in particular, Mutizwa had other ideas as he netted two goals in the space of ten minute to turn the game on its head.

Zwane and Amakhosi had no answers in the latter stages as the supporters got on their back in Polokwane.

It proved a morale-boosting victory for Arrows who moved up to ninth, level on points with eighth-placed Royal AM while Chiefs remained in fifth place, 27 points off league leaders Mamelodi Sundowns.
