He went on to say he commended the SAB for following through on the commitment made during the Presidential Investment Conference and for benefitting the surrounding communities through this expansion project.

GQEBERHA MAYOR CHUFFED BY THE INVESTMENT

Meanwhile, Nelson Mandela Bay Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Retief Odendaal saw this investment as a win for his municipality.

“South African Breweries (SABS) have shown a big vote of confidence in Nelson Mandela Bay after they invested R500 million into the expansion of their current plant. I’m excited about the investment injection into our local economy. It is a big step in the right direction as we unite to work hard to rejuvenate our local economy, he said.

“The confidence shown by SAB in Nelson Mandela Bay encourages us to work even harder to ensure we attract more investments. This expansion will also result in the creation of about 14 000 additional jobs. These will be directly created jobs – jobs through the production of raw material from the local farming industry, support processing factories and transportation logistics,” he added.
