FIFPro have announced the the 26 nominees for the 2022 Men’s World 11, with Achraf Hakimi being the only African on the list, while Asisat Oshoala was not among the 23 nominees for the 2022 Women’s World 11.
“The 10 players within those men’s and women’s squads who receive the most votes in their position are then selected for the World 11,” says a statement by FIFAPro.
The World 11 is the award voted by the players themselves based on performances between 8 August 2021 and 18 July 2022.
“The final spot in the World 11 is assigned to the remaining outfield player with the next highest number of votes.
“The World 11 will be revealed at The Best FIFA Football Awards 2022, to be held in Paris on Monday 27 February 2023.”
The men’s nominees include players such as Lionel Messi, Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and even Cristiano Ronaldo, while Mohamed Salah didn’t make the cut.
