Halala! Thuso Mbedu bags Film Independent Spirit Award

Thuso Mbedu understands the assignment, babe! The South African actress who is now recognised internationally has bagged herself another award, mind you she was nominated with big American names and still managed to show them flames.

“The Underground Railroad” star Thuso Mbedu walked away with the award for best female performance for a new scripted series at the 37th Film Independent Spirit Awards on Sunday.

Thuso triumphed over Anjana Vasan, Jana Schmieding, Jasmine Cephas Jones, and Deborah Ayorinde to win the prestigious award.

During her acceptance speech, she expressed gratitude to the show’s director, Barry Jenkins, as well as the Amazon Prime Video streaming platform. “Oh, Snap. They told me a number of times to prepare something, and I really didn’t.
