Nota Baloyi accuses Shimza’s lawyers of draining his account

Controversial music executive Nota Baloyi has once again found himself at the centre of drama after making explosive allegations about DJ Shimza.

The outspoken 35-year-old, who recently celebrated 15 years of sobriety, took to social media on Wednesday, 27 August 2025, claiming that Shimza’s legal team had seized more than R400,000 from his personal bank account.

According to him, the money was taken as part of a legal battle linked to comments he made about an exposé aired by eNCA.

“Shimza’s lawyers seized R406K from my personal account. That brings the total I’ve paid him to R511K, the remaining balance is R41K… All because I commented on a @Checkpoint_eNCA exposé of @mmkubayi’s malfeasance as Tourism Minister. Now she heads a delayed Madlanga commission!” Nota wrote.

The claim quickly ignited debate online, with some netizens expressing shock at the figures, while others joked that Nota might secretly be a millionaire given the amounts he mentioned.

DJ Shimza, however, was quick to respond, dismissing Nota’s outrage and suggesting that the battle is far from over. Taking to social media, he wrote in Sepedi: “E sa sh0ta” — loosely translating to “the amount seized is still short,” implying that Baloyi still owes him more money.
