An EFF member, Blessings Nethononda has made it clear that the party is not shaken by Nhlanhla Lux’s National Shutdown defiance campaign.

While the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) mobilises for a national shutdown next month, South African activist Nhlanhla ‘Lux’ Dlamini started an opposing campaign.

The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) confirmed that a South African soldier died in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) on Sunday, 5 February.

Ntokozo Mayenzi Xaba was found with multiple stab wounds at her off-campus residence in Pretoria on Thursday morning.

In other news, a cut-off low-pressure system is expected to develop over the country this week. The South African Weather Service (SAWS) said this kind of weather system is notorious for causing severe weather.

Lastly, two hippos were recently seen strolling through the streets of the South African Town called St. Lucia.

The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) is hosting the 2023 Armed Forces Day (AFD) at Richards Bay in KwaZulu-Natal from 06 – 22 February 2023.

City of uMhlathuze communications manager Bongani Gina said the municipality was excited to host the 2023 Armed Forces Day. Gina said the safety of tourists and residents would be a key priority.

EFF not shaken by Nhlanhla Lux National Shutdown defiance

An EFF member Blessings Nethononda has made it clear that the party is not shaken by Nhlanhla Lux’s National Shutdown defiance campaign.

While the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) mobilises for a national shutdown next month, South African activist Nhlanhla ‘Lux’ Dlamini started an opposing campaign.

Lux took to social media to indicate that 20 of March will be a normal day for all.

SANDF soldier killed, pilot injured in DRC helicopter attack

The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) confirmed that a South African soldier died in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) on Sunday, 5 February.

On Sunday, the soldier was killed when an Oryx helicopter was fired upon in Goma, DRC. The helicopter pilot was also injured in the attack but managed to land the aircraft safely at Goma Airport.

TUT student, Ntokozo Xaba stabbed to death by former boyfriend

Ntokozo Mayenzi Xaba was found with multiple stab wounds at her off-campus residence in Pretoria on Thursday morning.

A friend of the late Tshwane University of Technology student Ntokozo Xaba, finally explained what happened during the final hours of the 21-year-old.

According to police, Xaba was drinking with friends, including her ex-boyfriend, on Wednesday evening.

Severe weather alert: Cut-off low to bring heavy rainfall, possible flooding to SA

A cut-off low pressure system is expected to develop over the country this week. The South African Weather Service (SAWS) said this kind of weather system is notorious for causing severe weather.

The cut-off low is expected to start developing over the western interior of South Africa on Wednesday, 8 February, before moving into the central interior, where it will become quasi-stationary from Thursday until Saturday before dissipating on Sunday.

WATCH: Hippos stroll through South African town

A video of two hippos strolling through the streets of St.Lucia was recently shared on social media.

The video has since gone viral. This is not something new for the residents of this town.

The largest hippo population in South Africa is in the area of iSimangaliso Wetland Park, and St Lucia is situated in the heart of Hippo Land.
