Sukazi Confirms Shock Vila Exit
TS Galaxy have parted ways with midfielder Sibusiso Vilakazi via mutual termination.
Vilakazi, 33, joined Galaxy in the off-season as a marquee signing after six seasons at Mamelodi Sundowns where he won nine trophies, including five league titles.
His move was seen as major coup for the Rockets but things haven’t worked out, with Vila not finding the net or an assist in his 10 games this season.
After starting the first five games of the campaign as a centre-forward, the former Bidvest Wits star has been on the peroiphery of the squad and reportedly had a fallout with head coach Sead Ramovic against Swallows last month.
It saw him dropped for the Cape Town City, Sundowns, and Golden Arrows games that followed.
Chairman Tim Sukazi confirmed that ‘Vila’ has lef the club and has wished him well on his future endeavours.
“Our Club has parted ways with Vila,” he told iDiski Times.
“It was not an easy decision because Vila is a player that we hold in high regard as a Club such that the negotiations around the contract termination, even though understandable, were not a simple matter.
“Vila is an absolute professional who has contributed a lot to our Club within the shortest time of his stay. Our Club doors will remain open to him in the future.”
The 33-time capped South Africa international has scored 64 goals and registered 36 assists in 342 matches in club football since making his debut for the now-defunct Bidvest Wits back in 2009.
