The future of former Kaizer Chiefs attacking midfielder Lebogang Manyama remains uncertain after he suffered a new injury setback recently.
Manyama was close to re-joining Cape Town City after training with the club and also taking part in some friendlies, with coach Eric Tinkler keen to add his experience to his squad.
While City haven’t closed the door on re-signing their ex-captain, their hopes to have their former talisman this season have been scuppered.
Further injury setbacks with his knee have seen him return home to do rehab on his own.
Much will now depend on how and when the former Chiefs man recovers, but according to sources, if Manyama does get fit again, John Comitis will be more than happy to welcome back the 32-year-old.
Manyama played for City between July 2016 and September 2017, helping them to win the Telkom Knockout Cup and ending the 2016/17 league campaign as top goalscorer with 13 strikes.
From City he moved Turkish side Konyaspor but returned to Mzansi the following year after an unsuccessful spell in Europe to join Chiefs.
He featured 98 times for the Amakhosi, scoring 15 goals and setting up 15 more but was part of the players that were released ahead of the 2022/23 campaign.
