Motsepe Foundation Championship Round-Up – iDiski Times

Polokwane City remains top of the Motsepe Foundation Championship, but Casric Stars are just behind on goal difference after the weekend’s action in the South African second tier.

In midweek action, Cape Town Spurs picked up a 2-0 victory over Uthongathi in a catch-up fixture. Boitumelo Radiopane scored his first league goal of the season, and thought he had a second, but it was ruled as an own goal after Radiopane’s touch on the ball only came after it had crossed the goal line.

On Friday there was a goalless draw between Platinum City Rovers and Hungry Lions, but there was a good 2-1 win for Venda Football Academy over Tshakhuma. Kgothatso Mariba and Rotunda Mutsivhuli scored for VFA, with Issa Sarr on the scoresheet for TTM.

On Saturday a late goal for La Masia by former Orlando Pirates youngster Augustine Mahlonoko earned a 1-1 draw against JDR Stars. Ishmael Wadi had earlier given JDR the lead

Black Leopards remain bottom but will be buoyed by their fightback to earn a 2-2 draw against AmaTuks, thanks to a goal from Siphelele Ntshangase. Ayanda Mvambi and Kamohelo Pheeane scored for AmaTuks, on either side of a Tiklas Thutlhwa goal for Lidoda Duvha.

Polokwane City beat Magesi 1-0 thanks to Francis Baloyi’s first-half strike, 

On Sunday Casric Stars kept up the pace with Polokwane as they beat Uthongathi 2-1. The new franchise remains just behind Rise and Shine on goal difference.

Pretoria Callies’ winning streak came to an end as Baroka grabbed a late equaliser in a 1-1 draw. 

On Monday Cape Town Spurs will host All Stars at the Athlone Stadium in the final game of round 16.
