Patosi Speaks Out After Foolad Exit

Former Cape Town City midfielder Ayanda Patosi has shared a message of thankfulness after his exit at Foolad FC.

Patosi joined the Iranian side in June 2020 after a season-long spell with Baniyas. The South African midfielder won Iranian Cup in 2019/20 season as well as the Iranian Super Cup before joining Foolad in 2021.

The 30-year-old made 82 appearances in all competitions and scored 18 goals. His exit didn’t come as surprise because his contract to an end.

The Khayelitsha-born winger, who is now a free agent, shared some words of thanks to his former club, coaches, teammates and supporters.

“Thank you to this great club Foolad FC,” he wrote on Instagram.

“It’s been a pleasure an honour to play for this club for four-years. Thank you to all the players that I have shared the football pitch with through difficult and wonderful times.

“To all fans and supporters, [it] means a lot to me and I will only remember the good times we had together.

“I wish you have a wonderful season.”

Patosi still has a market value of €575 000 and it remains to be seen whether any of the clubs in the DStv Premiership or abroad will sign him on a free deal.
