Andile Jali’s agent Mike Makaab has insisted Mamelodi Sundowns need to make a call on the future of the midfielder or else he will look elsewhere.
The 32-year-old joined Downs in July 2018 as a free agent after spending four years abroad with KV Oostende but his current deal is coming to an end in June. He has won seven trophies with the Tshwane giants including four league titles.
Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena has continuously pointed out Jali’s importance to the team and revealed that he’s even using him as an assistant.
However, the Matatiela-born midfielder has seen little game-time off late and featured just 16 minutes across three substitute appearances across the club’s last 10 games in all competitions.
Overall, Jali made 12 appearances this season but he is yet to feature in the CAF Champions League. The former Orlando Pirates midfielder again played no part in Monday’s Tshwane Derby that saw Downs beat SuperSport United 1-0.
According to his agent Makaab, there hasn’t been any movement in talks between the Jali and Sundowns for the renewal of the contract.
“I think it’s decision time for them,” Makaab said on Gagasi FM.
“And if they don’t want Andile then they need to let us know and then we have to respect that and we have to move on.
Makaab insisted that Jali would like to stay at Chloorkop but he won’t be short of options should he not come to an agreement over a new deal.
“As I’ve said to you, there are number of teams that have enquired about him – not only locally but outside our boarders,” he added.
“But our first choice for him will be for him to stay local because of has his family here and he is building a life for himself after football here. So all of these things we’ve got to take them into consideration.
“His first choice would be to stay at Sundowns but if he’s not part of the coach’s plan, he’s a quality player and he’s got five months left on his contract.

“Of course it’s a concern [that he doesn’t play much]. Again, I have to respect Mamelodi Sundowns, they’ve always been professional in the way they’ve dealt with us but I think in this particular case we’ve got to bring this thing to a head, there is not doubt it.”
