News coming out of Asia is that Carlos Queiroz and Roger De Sa’s next opportunity may have been lined up, with Queiroz set to be confirmed as China’s new manager.
Queiroz and De Sa’s contracts with Iran recently came to an end, after they led the Middle Eastern team at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar at the end of 2022.
Prior to that engagement, De Sa teamed up with Queiroz to lead the Egyptian national team, where they narrowly missed out on qualification for the World Cup, after losing in a penalty shootout to Senegal.
Under Queiroz and De Sa, Egypt also finished as runners-up at last year’s Africa Cup of Nations, where they also lost via penalties against Senegal.
Chinese media have now said that Queiroz’s announcement is imminent after he and his staff agreed on terms with the Chinese FA.
According to Chinese news outlet, c.m.163.com: “Queiroz and his staff have accepted the offer of the Chinese Football Association to coach the national team of the country and are going to take the path of coaching this Asian team.
“Queiroz’s requested salary is not a big figure among the candidates to lead the Chinese team.”
According to the reports Queiroz was selected ahead of Paul Bento, Ola Luoyu and Dragan Stojković, as his demands were more reasonable.
