Arthur Mafokate‘s million-rand properties frozen after being implicated in R56 million NLC corruption scandal. The heavyweight star is making headlines after The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) discovered that he is involved in fraud and corruption deals at the National Lotteries Commission (NLC).

SIU chairman Kaizer Kganyago said the National Prosecuting Authority’s Asset Forfeiture Unit received a preservation order from the Pretoria High Court to solidify three luxury properties, a plot, and a portion of a farm linked to the siphoning of lotteries grant funding meant for community development projects.

The properties include Mafokate’s luxury property in Midrand, Johannesburg, with a sale value of R7.5m, and former NLC legal representative Lesley Ramulifho, whose property is in Cape Town in the Western Cape. Kganyago said:

The order is against:

1. Saada, represented by Arthur Mafokate, musician and Saada director. Preservation: luxury property in Midrand.
2. Ramulifho Family Trust. Preservation: luxury property in Cape Town.
3. BDH Group, represented by William Elias Huma, the former NLC board member. Preservation: portion of a farm in Rustenburg.
4. Alfred Ntshengedzeni Nevhutanda and Tshilidzi Rachel Nevhutanda, former NLC board chair and his wife. Preservation: a plot in Pretoria.
5. Preservation: luxury property in Pretoria. Prohibited and restrained from selling, disposing of, leasing, transferring, donating or dealing in any manner whatsoever concerning the immovable properties. Marang Family Trust, represented by Tsietsi Maselwa, head of NLC Legal Division.
