Regragui Nominated For FIFA The Best Coach Of The Year, Ellis Snubbed
Morocco coach Walid Regragui has made the shortlist for The Best FIFA Men’s Coach of the Year, while Desiree Ellis was somewhat surprisingly snubbed from the Woman’s Coach of the Year shortlist.
Regragui is one of the final nominees in the men’s category after winning the double (Botola Pro and CAF Champions League) with Wydad Athletic Club before leading Morocco to the semi-finals at the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
The 47-year-old could become the first African coach to lift the prestigious award, which was won by Thomas Tuchel in 2021.
However, he will have to fend off competition from the likes of Lionel Scaloni, who led Argentina to their first ever FIFA World Cup title.

Lionel Scaloni (Argentina / Argentinian National Team)
Meanwhile, Desliree Ellis did not make the shortlist for The Best FIFA Women’s Coach despite leading South Africa to their first ever Women’s Africa Cup of Nations title and also being named CAF Women’s Coach of the Year.
