AmaZulu coach Romain Folz has admitted that the pressure is mounting on him after Usuthu lost 2-0 to Royal AM at Chatsworth Stadium on Sunday.
While the pressure might be up for Folz to take at the moment, club officials are still backing him and felt the game on Sunday the players never turn up as he puts in a strong side on the day.
It was Usuthu’s fifth loss in the campaign and first under Folz, dropping to 12th spot in the DStv Premiership with 18 points after 15 matches.
After the final whistle, a visibly disgusted Folz went down the tunnel, looking very emotionally stricken by this loss, with his admission that they lost the balance in the middle of the first half.
“There’s always pressure in every game. If I look at the table, we are not where we want to be but we are not far off either,” said Folz after the game.
“So we will be back.”
Since Folz was handed the Usuthu post in October, he has won just once in eight appearances in all competitions he has been in charge of.
That is the only win across even the spell he had at Marumo Gallants at the beginning of the season, where in five matches there, failed to get a victory.
The Bordeaux-born coach in France felt the way they played, they did not deserve anything in the game.
“We didn’t deserve anything. In the first half, we did better and in the second half, we controlled the game,” said Folz.
“As much as we didn’t do well, we had many chances that we missed,” with Folz referring to Mbongeni Gumede who missed a great chance in front of the post but scooped the ball wide off the mark.
“I’m not going to blame anyone for that.”

Confusion reigned at Motebang Sera’s second goal that was initially given as a goal by second assistant Athenkosi Ndongeni. However, referee Christopher Kistoor, having consulted Ndongeni, overruled him, giving it a goal kick.
Folz was bemused by the events and said that it knocked the stuffing out of his team’s chase to get back in the game, adding that in that five minutes of chaos he heard two things that it was a goal from the fourth official and then not a goal. He said he had never seen anything like this in his life.
