American rapper Lil Nas X was arrested and hospitalised early in Los Angeles after a confrontation with police on Ventura Boulevard in the Studio City area.

The incident began when police responded to reports of a naked man walking along the street.

LIL NAS X TAKEN INTO CUSTODY

Lil Nas X, whose real name is Montero Lamar Hill, wore only white underwear and cowboy boots before he allegedly charged at officers.

Police immediately took Lil Nas X into custody but suspected he was experiencing a drug overdose. He was therefore taken to hospital for treatment before being transferred to jail, according to TMZ.

The Los Angeles Police Department confirmed that officers booked him on suspicion of misdemeanor obstructing an officer. He remains in custody as inquiries continue.

Video footage showed the 26-year-old rapper calmly singing and walking on the road. He even tells someone filming him, “Hey, don’t be late to the party tonight?”

Lil Nas X’s behaviour quickly caught the attention of fans and the public alike.

Following the news of his arrest, social media flooded with well-wishes from fans and supporters. One fan wrote on Twitter, “Mont, you are an incredible artist and deserve good things. We love and support you.”

Another added, “Praying for you @LilNasX. I hope you get the care you need.” A third commented, “His music and message have inspired so many. Lifting him up in prayer and sending love.”

LIL NAS X’S CAREER

Fans widely know Lil Nas X for his groundbreaking 2018 hit, Old Town Road. The song was a fusion of country and hip-hop that topped the Billboard Hot 100 for a record 19 weeks.

His innovative sound and bold style have earned international acclaim.

His debut studio album, Montero (2021) went on to reach No. 2 on the Billboard album chart. It was also nominated for a Grammy for Album of the Year.

The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of mental health care and support for artists under intense public scrutiny.

Fans and the music industry now hope for Lil Nas X’s swift recovery and return to health.
