Former Kaizer Chiefs and AmaZulu defender Philani Zulu says he felt welcome by the team after the Sekhukhune United announced his arrival alongside Mzwanele Mahashe.
The 30-year-old was with AmaZulu under the mentorship of Brandon Truter and now reunited with the coach at Babina Noko.
Sekhukhune are sitting second from the bottom with just 11 points from 12 games this season so far, but Zulu hopes he can add some experience to turn things around.
“I would like to thank the players and the technical staff for the way they’ve welcomed me,” Zulu told Sekhukhune’s media department.
“I felt at home from the first day I arrived because coming to a club like this where there is more camaraderie and the players getting along together, it just means more a spirit towards being part of the team and I’m happy to be part of the team.
“Now that I’ve joined the team, I will try my best to add as much value as I possible can and to make sure that I pull along with the team.
“It’s gonna take time to blend it to learn the culture of the team but I’m ready as a player to be part of the team in the best way possible.
“Looking at the team with the quality the team has, it’s much of a surprise to see that they are in the position they are in.
“But the way things are going so far with the preparations for the season ahead, continuing, playing more games, I’m sure and positive that a lot of good things are coming towards the team.”
Sekhukhune return to action on 31 December when they host Zulu’s former club AmaZulu.
