Pitso Mosimane’s Soccer Schools Programme [PMSS] coach Brilliant Mashao has revealed how he drew inspiration from ‘Jingles’ to become a football coach.
Mashao is the coach at Curro Meridian Cosmo City in Johannesburg. The school recently partnered with PMSS.
The youth coach, who holds CAF C License says he started to draw inspiration from the three-time CAF Champions League-winning mentor during his heydays at SuperSport United when he was still an assistant coach.
Mashao went on to state how much he likes Mosimane’s approach to the game and how his way of doing things has helped him understand the trade of management.
He also feels honoured to be part of Mosimane’s school programme.
MASHAO SPEAKS…
“It’s an honour really, Pitso is a humble coach and he has so many accolades in his belt. His history speaks for itself. It’s a huge honour and I’m glad to be part of this project.” Mashao told FARPost.
“I believe too much is his philosophy and the way he emphasises how we should play.
“You know, I started following him even before the 2010 FIFA World Cup and before he was appointed the coach of Mamelodi Sundowns.
“Actually, even when he was still an assistant coach at SuperSport United. He has been someone I looked up to.”
HOW MASHAO AIMS TO CHANGE THE LANDSCAPE OF SA FOOTBALL
The 30-year-old coach further stated how he wants to change the landscape of South African football through youth development as there are a lot of injustices to the young ones.
He also divulged how he wants to see himself coaching one of the youth national teams so he can produce players for Bafana Bafana.
“I think we are not doing justice for South African football because in other countries their U17s, U21s and U23s are going to World Cups and we weren’t there for quite some time and that’s a challenge,” he added.
“If we start from those younger ones and instil that mindset for them to go to World Cup, in their minds they will see it normal and work even harder.
