Pitso Mosimane has praised his colleague Walid Regragui after he guided Morocco to become the first African nation to reach the World Cup semi-finals.

Regragui and Morocco have continued to defy the odds in Qatar and knocked Portugal out of the World Cup thanks to a resilient 1-0 win on Saturday.

The North African giants are still unbeaten at the tournament and have only conceded once via an own goal.

They have gone further than any other African nation ever did at football’s elite tournament, writing their names into football’s history books.

Regrgaui, who only took over from Vahid Halilhodzic in August, is still unbeaten as Morocco coach and his superb run to the semi-finals in Qatar has earned him high praised from Mosimane.

“Walid, thank you for putting all of Africa in the Global Map,” he stated on social media.

“Thank you for educating most of our Federations in our beloved Continent that we have potential and we got wiser and we now a lot about Global Football and we can compete with any country if we plan properly.”

Mosimane and Regragui faced each other earlier this year when the latter’s Wydad Casablanca beat the South African’s Al Ahly in the CAF Champions League final.

However, the duo are close friends and completed the CAF Pro Licence course together in Morocco earlier this year.

Morocco will now face 2018 World Cup champions France in Wednesday’s semi-final.
