Orlando Pirates are set to sign Craig Martin from Cape Town City, iDiski Times has learnt.

Martin, 29, has been subject of interest from the Gauteng ‘big-three’ over the last few seasons after breaking into the senior South Africa national team.

And while no moves transpired as the Citizens issued hands-off warnings, the club has now looked to move on some players in a signal of a potential squad rebuild.

Meanwhile, Pirates have been searching for a pacey winger for the right side of their attack, with Martin able to feature as a wing-back and right-back, he’s become a key target.

According to a source close to the Buccaneers and as first reported in this week’s iDiski Times newspaper, Martin arrived in Johannesburg on Monday for his medical ahead of penning his contract with the Soweto giants.

It marks an incredible move for the player who made his professional debut at the age of 24, after being snapped up from the amateur ranks in Cape Town under then-head coach Benni McCarthy.

The Bafana international has since racked up 152 appearances for the club, scoring 14 goals and registering 10 assists across all competitions.
