Musona Scoop Prestigious Award – iDiski Times

Former PSL forward Walter Musona, the brother of Knowledge secured the Castle Lager Premier League Player of the Year award.

Musona, 26, arrived in South Africa with Polokwane City after a stint in Slovakia and starring in his homeland with FC Platinum.

But his stay didn’t quite go to plan as Rise and Shine were relegated in the 2019/20 season and his move to Sekhukhune United didn’t do him any favours either.

With 14 goals in 80 games for Polokwane, he looked ready to step into the next stage of his career but he ended up clubless for six months after the Babina Noko stint before Norman Mapaza handed him a second chance in the Zimbabwean top-flight.

And he’s paid back the faith at FC Platinum with 14 goals and five assists as they secured their four consecutive league title.

“When I came back to Zimbabwe late last year, I was not confident that I would catch up with the guys because I had gone six months without playing,” he told the Sunday Mail.

“But with the help, I got from my coach and teammates, I managed to get back on my feet, they were pushing me every day, because they knew what I was capable of.

“Especially the coach, Mapeza, I want to thank him from the bottom of my heart – I think he is the best coach in the country. It’ not only Knowledge of myself who’s benefitted from his mentorship, there are many who have learnt from him playing in foreign leagues.”
