Former Baroka head coach Wedson Nyirenda has hailed Mamelodi Sundowns’ management for their recent masterstroke.
Sundowns recently had their technical team jetted out to Qatar for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
Rulani Mokwena, Steve Komphela and Manqoba Mngqithi were in Qatar for almost two weeks to learn tactical trends from World’s biggest football stage.
After nearly a fortnight at the global soccer showpiece, they returned home to prepare the team for the second round of the 2022/23 season.
The DStv Premiership defending champions have been a dominant force in South African football.
MAMELODI SUNDOWNS MANAGEMENT GETS THUMBS UP
Wedson Nyirenda has given the Brazilians’ hierarchy a thumbs up for supporting the technical team.
“Sundowns FC is always thinking ahead,” Wedson Nyirenda said in a Tweet. The 2018 Telkom Knockout winner with Baroka added: “Sending the coaches to the World Cup for almost two weeks was a catch.
“World Cup is where many new trends are seen, and Sundowns is tandem with reality.
“Kudos to the management. When you ask for results, it is justifiable. Ask for results when you provide,” Nyirenda added.
Masandawana have won the Premiership title for five successive seasons. Sundowns are currently in the pole position to clinch their sixth title in a row.
The Chloorkop-based side is placed on the summit of the 2022/23 league table with a 28 points tally after 12 games played.
BLOCKBUSTER ENCOUNTER
Sundowns have won nine games, drawing one and losing on two occasions. The Tshwane giants have already lifted a trophy this season after winning the four-team Carling Black Label Cup when they thrashed Orlando Pirates 4-0 in the final.
Sundowns will return to league action in a block-buster encounter against Pirates on the 30th of December at Loftus Versfeld.
