Former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Jackson Mabokgwane is set to leave Baroka FC in this upcoming window as the Motsepe Foundation Championship club are making a major shake-up with players and coaching staff.
According to iDiski Times sources, Mabokgwane has not returned to training with Bakgaga as the club kick start the preparation of the season that will resume in January next year.
The former Pirates goalkeeper is not the only one set to leave the club, with Kgodiso Monama, Nkosinathi Ononogbu and Jerry Msane also understood to depart.
The 34-year-old Mabokgwane joined Baroka in the second half of last season from Royal AM, where he didn’t feature even in one game before he was let go in the January transfer window this year.
He was brought in to bring stability in the side as they were fighting for their lives to remain in the DStv Premiership, but they couldn’t as they went down to the Championship.
The Limpopo-born goalie, who has also played for Bloemfontein Celtic, Mpumalanga Black Aces, Bidvest Wits and Mamelodi Sundowns, was fighting for number one spot at Baroka with Oscarine Masuluke.
As previously revealed by iDiski Times, Baroka have also brought in Bushy Moloi as the club’s new head coach, replacing Vincent Kobola – Moloi has since brought in few people to work with.
He will be assisted by Stanley Nkoane, who has been there for quite some time since last season, while Job Maphutha will be his second assistant coach.
Naughty Lekgau is the Goalkeeper Coach, Mathari Motupa is the fitness trainer, Prescott Mahlangu is the biokinetic and Azwindini Mundzelele has been appointed as the physio.
Baroka will hope these changes make a difference in the club as they have not won in the last four matches, losing three of those games.
They are sitting in 13th on the Championship table with 11 points after 11 matches. They will resume the Championship against log leaders and city rivals Polokwane City on 4 January 2023 at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.
