Tunisia But Fail To Reach Last-16

Tunisia secured a historic 1-0 win over reigning champions France but failed to reach the last 16 of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Didier Deschamps made nine changes from his last squad that beat Denmark, with his side already through to the knockout stages.

And the much-changed side were notably below-par which the North Africans, who needed a win at all costs to have any chance of qualification, took advantage of.

Captain Wahbi Khazri scored the only goal of the game before being hauled off due to injury but it wasn’t enough as Australia, beat one of the dark horses for the tournament, Denmark 1-0 to advance as Group D runners-up alongside Les Blues.

Matthew Leckie scored the only goal of the game as they advanced from the group stage for the first time since the 2006 World Cup in Germany.

It proved a major disappointment for the Danes, who were semi-finalists at Euro 2021 and came into the tournament ranked 10th in world football – finishing last in the group.
