Andre Onana has released a statement after being axed from Cameroon’s World Cup squad over a disagreement with coach Rogobert Song.
The Inter Milan goalkeeper started his side’s first game – a 1-0 defeat to Switzerland – at the tournament, but was cut from the squad just hours ahead of their 3-3 with Serbia on Monday.
It’s been suggested the issue was due to a heated disagreement with the technical team over his playing style, in which they have asked him to be less eccentric in his approach.
As a consequence, Onana was cut from the squad, with FECAFOOT later releasing a statement where they backed the decision of the coach.
Onana has now reacted to the new, saying he “always behaved in a way to lead the team to success in a good manner” and that there has been “no will on the other side” to find solutions to the situation.
