For Miguel Timm, to have been called up to the Bafana Bafana squad, that will face Angola and Mozambique on Thursday and Sunday at Mbombela Stadium, represents an ideal opportunity to cement his place in the national team.
The combative midfielder says he can’t wait to show the coach Hugo Broos what he has, but he will take things as they come following his impressive showing with Orlando Pirates this season.
Tiim has laid a mark in the Pirates side, featuring in every minute when the Soweto giants won the MTN8 trophy last weekend in Durban two weeks against AmaZulu, being responsible for carrying the team in breaking the play and also starting the attack.
Bafana will play these two southern region sides as the coach Broos is familiarising himself with the players ahead of two Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers in March next year against Liberia home and away.
“I like to live in the present moment,” said Timm at the Bafana Bafana press conference on Monday. This call up is the first in his career in the national team setup.
“So these two games I look forward to and who knows maybe I’m not good enough and don’t come back here and another player comes in, but that’s life.
“But life continues or I do well and get selected in the future. But for now, I look forward to these two games and whatever happens in the future will be decided by the coach and my contribution. But I look forward to it.”

Bafana coach Broos said he was impressed even in September about Timm’s combative approach that he will be next in line to be called up to his squad in November.
“His qualities are clear,” said Broos, who was sitting next to Timm and Ronwen Williams in the press conference today.
“Otherwise he shouldn’t be here. Miguel, I know that in September there were voices that we should be with Bafana Bafana, but I’m the coach and when the player is playing good, then you have to confirm with his good performance and he did it.
“Miguel is not here because Sphephelo Sithole is not here. He’s here because he has had good performances with his club.”
