Maritzburg United have decided to appoint Fadlu Davids as their new head coach and are expected to make the announcement early this week.
The 41-year-old will return to the Team of Choice and could be announced as early as this Monday after they parted ways with John Maduka, iDiski Times has learnt.
Davids, who had a brief stint with Lokomotiv Moscow as assistant to Josef Zinnbauer, will return to Maritzburg after leaving the club in December 2018.
After stints as assistant coach to Mandla Ncikazi, Clive Barker, Ernst Middendorp and Roger De Sa, Davids took charge of Maritzburg in March 2017, initially as caretaker coach.
He guided the club to their highest ever finish in fourth place in 2017/18 and also reached the Nedbank Cup final, where they lost 1-0 to Free State Stars.

However, after several key players of his squad left the club ahead of the 2018/19 campaign, Davids struggled somewhat to continue the upward trajectory.
After only collecting two wins in their first 17 games of 2018/19, the club opted to part ways with Davids in December 2018.
He then moved on to Orlando Pirates in January 2019, serving as assistant coach to Milton Sredojevic, Rulani Mokwena and Josef Zinnbauer, before being named as co-head coach alongside Mandla Ncikazi following Zinnbauer’s departure in 2021/22.
After losing the CAF Confederations Cup final to RS Berkane on penalties and dropping out of the top four in the DStv Premiership in the final three games of the season, Davids opted to leave the Buccaneers and was keen to return to the sidelines as sole head coach.
He will take over a Maritzburg side that sits at the bottom of the DStv Premiership, collecting just two wins in their first 13 league games.
