Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies head coach Jerry Tshabalala has explained why he was keen to face Moroccan side ASFAR in the final of the CAF Woman’s Champions League.

Sundowns Ladies booked their place into the final of CAFWCL for the second time after beating Simba Queens in the semi-final thanks to a solitary goal by Boitumelo Rabale.

Tshabalala who led Downs into their second successive final made it clear that he would love to beat all the teams that his side could face in the tournament after Downs already won 2-1 against the other semi-finalists Bayelsa Queens during the group stages.

“I would be happy if we can play against ASFAR in the final, I’ve got my reasons,” he said ahead of the second semi-final between ASFAR and Bayelsa kicked off.

“I’ve played Bayelsa, it would be nice to be the champion beating all the five teams that were in the tournament except Green Buffaloes and Determine Girls.

“If they go into the final ASFAR and we beat them, how many teams did we beat five? We only have two teams that we didn’t face. I would love to have ASFAR in the final but we are ready for anyone.”

Tshabalala’s wishes were granted as Moroccan side ASFAR managed to book their spot in the final after beating Bayelsa Queens by a solitary goal from Ibtissam Jraidi.

Similar to Downs, ASFAR are yet to taste a defeat in the current campaign after winning all of their games en route to the final, scoring six goals and only conceding one. Downs, meanwhile, have netted 12 times and also only conceded once.

The Hollywood Super League champions won the CAF Women’s Champions League last season after beating Ghanaian side Hasaacas Ladies 2-0 in the final in Cairo, Egypt.
