Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro was left pleased by the recent inclusions of three of his players in the Bafana Bafana squad.
Monnapule Saleng, Miguel Timm, and Zakhele Lepasa all received the nod from Hugo Broos for the squad set to face Mozambique and Angola this month.
The latest camp which is in preparation for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers in March – will give Broos another opportunity to see how far his talent pool goes with domestic-based players.
Saleng and Timm have not previously worked under him but their impressive run of form en route to the MTN8 triumph has offered the Belgian something to ponder and Riveiro feels they will arrive to camp in peak physical condition.
“Well obviously as part of the group, we’re all very happy for the boys,” Riveiro said. “It’s an honor for them to be there [in Bafana] to represent the country.
“Hopefully in the future, we can even have more players available for the national team and they are well prepared, so I think it’s going to be opportunities for them to contribute, and show they can show their capacity to form in that environment as well. I’m very happy for them as well, obviously.”
Broos cut down his provisional squad by seven players on Monday, with the players set to report for camp next week in Mpumalanga, with both games scheduled to take place at Mbombela Stadium.
