Kaizer Chiefs forward Ashley du Preez says his first taste of the Soweto Derby has him hungry for more with the club.

Du Preez, 25, has been one of the success stories of Stellenbosch FC and made a big-money move to Amakhosi in the off-season in a deal worth a reported R10-million.

And while his start to life at Chiefs hasn’t been smooth sailing, he admits his latest experience with the club energized him as he looks to find his scoring form.

“It was an amazing feeling playing in front of the home fans. I have never played with almost 90 000 fans watching me and it was a brilliant experience,” he told the club’s website.

“It gives you that extra energy to help the team. I think the fans played a huge role in the game by inspiring us so I hope it will happen more often in the future.

“If I had put those chances away it would have been a bonus to my team and to my name, but still, I like Derbies, I want to play in more of them.”

The South Africa international has scored three goals and registered two assists in 13 games since making the switch to Naturena.
