Zimbabwean Businessman Arrested For Kidnapping, Robbery And Child Trafficking

Interpol and the SAPS National Intervention Unit (NIU) arrested a Zimbabwean businessman, Frank Buyanga Sadiqi, after a red notice was issued.

The wealthy businessman was reportedly apprehended around 4 a.m. at an expensive hotel in Sandton.

Frank Buyanga Sadiqi, according to NewsHawks, has been arrested on a variety of charges, including child trafficking, immigration violations, and forgery.

In a statement, the South African Police Services (SAPS) confirmed his arrest, saying: “The charges emanate from an incident which took place in April 2020 in Zimbabwe where the suspect kidnapped his next of kin and fled with him to South Africa.

“A warrant of arrest was immediately issued by Zimbabwean Authorities after which a red notice was also issued by Interpol Harare.”

He was apprehended during an early morning raid on Thursday, November 10th, and appeared in Randburg Magistrate’s Court.

He was remanded in custody and is due back in court on November 17 for a formal bail application.

According to News24, the Zimbabwean businessman accused the South African Revenue Service (SARS) of attempting to force his businesses out of South Africa in 2020 following a raid that resulted in the seizure of R600 million in gold coins.
