Official: Belgium Announce World Cup Squad

Belgium has announced their 2022 World Cup squad, with Eden Hazard who has barely featured for Real Madrid, included as the team captain.

The former world number one in the FIFA rankings between September 2018 and February 2021, will hope to improve the 2018 World Cup showing in Russia after losing to France in the semi-finals.

Described as the “Golden Generation”, Belgium remain one of the dark horses to win the 2022 World Cup, regardless of their somewhat underwhelming recent form.

The Red Devils have made 13 World Cup appearances, but have yet to lift the coveted trophy, with a third place in Russia back in 2018 their best-ever performance.

Belgium were paired in Group B with Canada, Croatia and Morocco and will fancy their chances of reaching the round of 16. They will start the competition against Canada on 23 November.
