Frustrated Westbury residents in Johannesburg are demanding action from the police following two separate shootings on Wednesday.

Two people were killed.

The Community Policing Forum in the area suspects the shootings may be gang-related and says residents are tired of rampant crime.

There have been several shootings in the area recently.

Johannesburg District Police Commissioner Max Masha has promised more police will be deployed to Westbury.

Residents say some police officers are working with criminals and should be removed from the area.

“First thing tomorrow morning we’ll have a meeting with all the role players. We’re going to increase visibility in this area,” Masha said.
