Motsepe Foundation Championship rookies Casric Stars continued with their impressive run following a 2-1 win away to Baroka on Wednesday.

The Mpumalanga side have been a surprise packed amongst the first division teams this season.

CASRIC STARS ON FIRE

They have now jumped to second on the log with 23 points, two behind log leaders Polokwane City.

But co-owner and head coach Bucs Muthombeni remains humble despite the new strides.

“We are still on zero now, we still have to learn and we are learning everyday,” said Muthombeni.

“We need to humble ourselves and learn more from the likes of Baroka, AmaTuks and Polokwane City, not forgetting the likes of Uthongathi.

“When you are humble, you learn a lot. But when you are arrogant you learn less because God gives to those who are humble.

“Professionalism is better than in the ABC Motsepe League. We are looking forward to do better and we are going to go to the a four week break. Then continue with our next match.

“Limpopo have six teams. So you must know that when you play against them you have 36 points to fight for. The most important thing in football, this is a promotion league and people must not forget.”

ANOTHER REFEREE CONFRONTED

Meanwhile, another match official was confronted after the Motsepe Foundation Championship match between Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila and Cape Town Spurs on Wednesday.

In a video circulating on social media, Cape Town Spurs officials can be seen charging at an assistant referee at the end of the match.

The Cape side lost the match 1-0. According to those who were at the stadium, the officials were left furious after a goal they scored was ruled offside.

It follows an incident that took place at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium last Sunday. Match officials were confronted by La Masia officials after the 2-1 loss to Polokwane City.
