Khampepe Commission report released – News365.co.za

The Khampepe Commission, led by retired Judge Sisi Khampepe, has released its report into allegations of racism at Stellenbosch University.

The university requested an external independent inquiry as part of rooting out racism and discrimination.

The commission found that whilst the university has made strides towards transformation, black students and staff members still feel unwelcome and excluded.

It says this is due to a variety of factors.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Wim de Villiers says the university is studying the report.

“The report is a tipping point. The university made itself vulnerable and exposed itself to criticism,” he said.

“We will now study that report in-depth and fully engage.”
