Keanu Baccus, the younger brother of former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Kearyn Baccus, has been named in Australia’s official squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Baccus, 24, was born in Durban but moved to Australia at a young age. He saw his star rise in Australia, earning his stripes for  Western Sydney Wanderers in the A-League.

Ahead of the 2022/23 season, Baccus moved to Scottish side St. Mirren, where he has made 13 appearances this season, scoring two goals.

His fine performances didn’t go unnoticed and he made his senior debut for Australia on 25 September against New Zealand.

Despite having featured just once for the Socceros at senior level, Baccus was called up into the official World Cup squad by head coach Graham Arnold.
