Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies mentor Jerry Tshabalala has urged his troops to be more clinical in front of goals ahead of their CAF Women’s Champions League second group stage match against Wadi Degla.

Banyana Ba Style will take on the Egyptian side tonight [18:00] at Grand Stade de Marrakech Stadium.

A win against Degla will see Masandawana cruise their way into the tournament’s semifinals.

Currently, the red-hot Brazilians are top of Group B with 3 points, equal on points with second-placed TP Mazembe of DR Congo.

The Chloorkop-based side comes into this encounter after defeating Nigeria’s Bayelsa Queens 2-1 in their opening Group B encounter on Monday, thanks to Lelona Daweti’s brace.

On the other hand, Degla suffered a 1-0 defeat against TP Mazembe in their first game.

Mamelodi Sundowns Ladies head coach Jerry Tshabalala and his troops face a tough test this afternoon when they take on tricky side Bloemfontein Celtic in the Hollywoodbets Super League at Mpumalanga Stadium in Hammarsdale.

TSHABALALA SPEAKS…

‘Kappa’, as he is popularly known within the football cycles, reckons that his girls will have to for the kill in the final third in order for them to progress to the semis.

“We know they will be eager for maximum points, considering that they lost their opening game to TP Mazembe. Therefore, we need to dominate possession in the key areas and finish off our chances,” Tshabalala told Sundowns’ media.

“This game will require us to constantly press across the pitch because they are a very fit side. We plan to leave everything on the pitch because we are on a mission to defend our title.

“To become champions again, we will be tested across all fronts; therefore, our next task is to prevail in the battle against the Egyptian champions.”

However, Tshabalala went on to commend his team for their resilience when they faced the debutants Bayelsa Queens.

KAPPA FULL OF PRAISES…

“It was not an easy match for us because games against Nigerian teams are not easy due to their unbelievable stamina. Although we had limited information from them before the game, we stood our ground and got the result that we wanted,” he added.

“Kudos must go to the players for sticking to the game plan and finding the back of the net when it mattered the most. It is always good to start a tournament like this with a victory. Mentally, we are ready for our next opponents.”
