Folz: AmaZulu Won’t Target Ndlondlo

AmaZulu coach Romain Folz says it would be suicidal to focus on Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo when they face Orlando Pirates in the MTN8 final at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.

Ndlondlo, who likes to dictate terms just near his partner Miguel Timm, previously worked with Folz when the French-born coach was in charge of Marumo Gallants in his short stint at the beginning of the season.

The pint-sized midfielder, in the Soweto Derby against Kaizer Chiefs at FNB Stadium last weekend, was shoved off on the ball by Khama Billiat, allowing Yusuf Maart to score a wonderful goal from his own half to decide the Derby.

However, Folz says they won’t be focused on Ndlondlo even though he can make Pirates tick in the midfield.

“No one is targeted in particular,” said Folz.

“It is a matter of knowing the specifics of each player to try to make sure that each department is as ineffective as possible.

“When it comes to Ndlondlo in particular, I had a chance to get to know him a little bit more. But I will tell you, my knowledge of other players, even though I didn’t work with them, is good as well.

“So we will do our best to try and be tactically as good as possible and effective as possible to reduce the marginal expression to some of their players and ensure that the marginal expression of our players is as loud as possible.

“So to answer your question, no one is targeted in particular. But it will take a collective effort to make sure that we can have a good performance.”

Ndlondlo silenced Andile Jali in the first leg semi final at Orlando Stadium, resulting in Jali, former Pirates, to be taken off early in the second half, as he was not at his best.

With the game on Saturday, Ndlondlo will be reunited with partner in crime – Timm – who was suspended in the Derby. The duo as midfield combo, dictate terms and that is why Pirates are in the final of the Wafa Wafa Cup for the second time in three seasons.
